Terms & Conditions

By renting a vehicle from George For Hire, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your booking.

1. Authorised Driving Area

All rented vehicles may only be driven within the Famagusta district (including Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni, Deryneia and surrounding areas). Driving outside this zone is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this rule will immediately void all insurance coverage and the renter will be held fully liable for any damage, loss, or third-party claims.

2. Road Use Only — No Off-Road Driving

All vehicles must be used exclusively on paved public roads. Off-road driving — including but not limited to dirt tracks, beaches, fields, forest paths, and unmaintained trails — is strictly forbidden. The insurance policy does not cover any damage resulting from off-road use. The renter will bear full financial responsibility for repairs, recovery costs, and any consequential damage.

3. Insurance Coverage

Each rental includes basic third-party liability insurance that is valid only under the following conditions:

  • The vehicle is driven within the authorised Famagusta area.
  • The vehicle is used exclusively on paved public roads.
  • The driver holds a valid and appropriate driving licence.
  • The vehicle is operated in accordance with all applicable traffic laws.

If any of these conditions are breached, the insurance coverage is automatically void and the renter assumes full liability.

4. Driver Requirements

The renter must present the following documents at the time of vehicle collection:

  • A valid passport or national identity card.
  • A full, valid driving licence (appropriate category for the rented vehicle).

The minimum driver age may apply depending on the vehicle category. Only the registered renter is authorised to drive the vehicle unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Vehicle Condition & Return

The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, with the same fuel level. Any damage not reported at collection will be charged to the renter. Late returns may incur additional daily charges.

6. Renter Liability

The renter is responsible for:

  • All traffic fines, penalties, and toll charges incurred during the rental period.
  • Any damage to the vehicle resulting from negligence, misuse, or breach of these terms.
  • Loss or theft of keys, accessories, or equipment provided with the vehicle.

7. Cancellation & Refund

Please refer to our Refund Policy for cancellation terms and deposit refund conditions.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cyprus.
